He has been trained in Acupuncture in Both China and Korea.
He served as the Director of the Bandaranaike Memorial Ayurveda Research Institute of the Department of Ayurveda, Ministry of Health; the premier institute of Research in Ayurveda and a tenure as the Secretary to the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine. He was an Ayurvedic Clinician par excellence, with a large population of patients being treated for many challenging conditions, including surgical problems like fistula in Ano. He pioneered the introduction of the “Kshara Suthra” treatment of Fistula in Ano in Sri Lanka.
Currently, Prof. Senaka Pilapitiya, a professor in Medicine and a physician qualified in both Ayurveda and Western medicine, representing the fifth generation of this unbroken lineage, leads the initiative.

I visited the Pilapitiya Ayurveda clinic for chronic back pain, and within a few sessions, I felt real relief. The doctors took their time, explained every step, and the herbal treatments felt natural and effective. It's a place where healing is personal and rooted in both tradition and science.
